BUSHCRAFT AND WILDERNESS CANOE SAFARI
HIGHLIGHTS
FLOATPLANE ride into a remote lake chain; EXPERT bushcraft and survival instruction; wilderness travel skill sharing; the art of canoeing; animal behaviour and tracking; native cultural tour; salmon spawning grounds and wildlife; daily workshop covering a series of topics which will then be put into practice through a wilderness journey.
OUTLINE
Our Bushcraft and Survival Expedition will be on a remote chain of lakes deep in the Coast Mountains, accessed by floatplane. During this time our guests will learn a range of bushcraft skills as well as wilderness travel and canoe techniques. After spending 6 days in the backcountry we will then be based in Bella Coola Valley for 3 days to explore the rainforest trails and salmon spawning grounds, learning about the native culture and lifestyle.
Dave Holder will be accompanying the group as a survival instructor using skills learnt in the military and also time spent with First Nations peoples in Canada and other parts of the world. Ultimately his expertise has been gained by spending time with the great Canadian Bushcraft Instructor Mors Kochanski from whom he gained his Canadian survival instructor qualification.
Keri Rutherford is our expert canoe guide joining the trip via the Yukon and North West Territories where she spends the winters dog sledding and the summers guiding on some of Canada’s big wild rivers. Keri will be guiding the group while canoeing and assisting Dave in teaching some of the canoe techniques useful in wilderness travel. She is also a fantastic cook!
